Wowie Winter Wednesday Writeup No. 5
Time to get a female hare, I said to myself, so I asked Petra (this was
shortly after her daring and outgoing invitation to us all to an inside allnight
hash at her place). I said, you did set hashes in Abidjan. She said yes. She
also said, find someone to help me set a trail in New York. Who better to find
for Petra than Peter. Even she appreciated it. They started two blocks away from
a Grand Central bomb scare, at a very posh Park Avenue law firm address. You
have noticed by now - I digress. The real question is, how much of the run did
Petra get to set. From experience I bet they did it all together, but I never
got to ask 'cause she left early. I seem to remember it was one of those cold
and tired Wednesday nights. What I remember about the trail was that Jerry found
me after Christmas shopping just a bit south of Pete's Tavern (did you get it?)
In my naivete, I was actually hoping for about two minutes that this would be
the on on, but it's time I learned that on the hash as just about everywhere
else nowadays, things don't happen as in storybooks. Not only did I find out
that Jerry had been buying books for his folks, but I actually bought myself two
tales this Christmas - one about sapins and one about snow. More about that
later (it had pretty pictures). I assured Jerry the on in wouldn't be much
further and shouldn't take him out of his southerly path home Third and Long was
neither, but cannot be criticized nontheless, having offered the aforesaid
female hashers silk roses during a Valentine's Day hash pub crawl interlude on
their super-crowded premises. This time (no rose), it was much better. I must
thank Petra and Peter for their run, but just as importantly Peter far reminding
me I had to write a writeup, otherwise they wouldn't have had one at all. The
obvious New Year's resolution which ensues, but doesn't apply to me because mine
was not to make any except to remember to brush my teeth after latenight hashes,
is to write the writeups write away.
