After passing out my two-page, 10-point font writeup for Tom Church's November G2FMH3 effort, I received the following comments, "Two full pages?" "Looks like we need an editor." "Could you use a smaller font?" I shall respond to these in order. Two full pages: Yes, two full pages. I hate all that whitespace left over from a short writeup. Looks like we need an editor: Funny, that's exactly how I earn my daily keep—as an editor. That's why my writeups are full of witty rhetoric, thought-provoking discourse, compelling grammar, correct spellings, and never fall short of nor exceed a full page. Could you use a smaller font: Realizing that some older eyeballs may have difficulty with this industry-standard 10 on 12 font, I will be glad to introduce the writeup Large Print Version with the grandest of fanfare . . .
Bite Me.
The Usual Suspects assembled in disorderly fashion beneath the lion named "Patience" (or was it "Fortitude") outside the NYC Public Library on Fifth Avenue. After identifying various light sources illuminating the Library and various buildings, Geoff relied on his keen sense of astronomy to pick out the full moon. I'm surprised he didn't point at the spat out jawbreaker on the sidewalk that had been sucked on for three, maybe four, minutes into a miniature luminous white orb and exclaim, "Ooh look! Che bella luna!"
Alice confirmed my shallow hopes of a noteworthy night's hashing by telling me that Geoff had neither time to recce the trail nor sufficient time to set it. This became readily apparent when we lost trail after the first block near Lord & Taylor. Why do we blindly follow Roy? Is it to admire his nates? I think not.
The night's trail can be described as suck: Dirk Diggler's dick is shorter and has more bends in it. Hell, Bo has set trails with more turns. From Fifth Avenue, we went east on 38th Street to the first check at Sutton Place. After some bamboozlement, trail went north on 1st Ave, then west on 53d to another check smack in the middle of Park Ave. (This next part I'm making up because I solved this check by calling the hotline.) Trail then went north then west into the Park at 60th. Across the Park without attracting harm upon oneself and trail headed north on Central Park West; then west on 68th, north on Broadway to a quick right onto 72nd and into Donohue's. Nine turns by my count.
Of note at the On-In was a mouse scurrying about on the floor and Schaeffer on tap. There seemed to be a Holiday Party going on there as well, but I don't think it was the Condé Nast Holiday Debacle. Definitely not a "Beautiful People" crowd judging by how long Mike stayed on our side of the booths. We don't hash to "be seen" anyway, do we?
